Halloween is a favorite holiday for many people, including the staff at your favorite Magnolia canine boarding kennels. Halloween is filled with creative costumes, plenty of decorations, and an abundance of candy. It is a fun holiday for the whole family that can be enjoyed by our pets as well. Your canine companion can join in the festivities, making the festivities that much more enjoyable.

Consider your pets when it comes to the decorations. Avoid placing items where your dog may get into things and could potentially choke on small items. Some motion-activated décor may incite fear in some pets so be mindful of your pet’s unique concerns. Pumpkins make a festive decoration and the flesh inside can even be pureed for a high fiber treat for your dog. Just remember to skip the pie spices!

Trick-or-treating and the sweet snacks that coincide are pivotal points of Halloween festivities but keep the goods away from your furry friends. Chocolate is harmful to dogs and should be kept out of their reach. Xylitol is an artificial sweetener used in some candies and gums and can also cause problems for dogs. Keep the treats to the trick-or-treaters that will be knocking on your door!

Pet costumes are a fun way to keep your pet involved in the celebration. Many costume stores have outfits designed specifically for your dog. The possibilities are endless and include anything from movie characters to comical puns and even dressing as other animals. You can even get creative and create your own costume or dress your entire family to a particular theme. Just remember to consider your dog’s safety – be sure they can still see, there are no tripping hazards, and that you can still attach their leash.

As always, you’re welcome to bring your pet to Circle K9 for them to celebrate a peaceful celebration at our canine boarding kennels.
