Nothing truly beats escaping the stress of work and everyday life like escaping to the land of fresh air, untouched land, and most importantly, no cell phone reception. You pack your meals, a tent, and some cord-free activities so you can unwind and recharge at your own personal retreat. So pile your pooch in the car to take off and enjoy camping with your dog with these helpful tips.
Do Your Homework
The last thing you want to do is pull up to your prepaid campsite to discover they don’t allow your four-legged friend. Do your research and make sure your dog is welcome wherever you go. Some campsites and parks allow the pooch but have pretty strict rules so make sure your destinations are an ideal fit for the whole gang. Remember to pick a nice spot with shade so you can all keep cool too.
Don’t Forget to Vaccinate
There are certain vaccines we require here at Circle K9 to keep your pets safe from harm while they’re in our care. A lot of these same vaccines are important to keep your dog safe wherever they go.
Plan for the Unexpected
Accidents can happen wherever you go but when you’re out in the wilderness and camping with your dog, it’s best to be overly prepared. Bring first aid materials for your pet (and yourself) and be sure to bring sunscreen. It also doesn’t hurt to bring a backup leash just in case! Make sure your trusty sidekick has an updated microchip and nametag. If you’re going to be camping in the same spot, it’s not a bad idea to get an extra nametag with your campsite information as well.
Forego the Fancywear
There’s no need to pack your pet’s bed, toys, bowls, and blankets. Your dog can get in touch with their primal roots too. Bring the leash, some reusable ice cream tubs or collapsable bowls, and their food and your pet will be more than content. Don’t forget their brush too, just in case they decide to trample through a sticker bush.
Have Fun!
It should go without saying, but if you’re out camping with your dog, have fun! Come prepared with all of the necessities but remember to enjoy yourself. Sleep under the stars and enjoy the companionship of your furry sidekick.
